Sleepover!

Saturday Amos had a game against the New England Revolution. Jessica's husband, Tilly's dad, had a conference in New Orleans. So the four ladies decided to have dinner and a sleepover which, of course, included a viewing of Frozen. I anticipated that bedtime would be a challenge, that Louisa would insist on cuddling with Tilly or Jessica in order to fall asleep, but, after playing hard and singing hard, she drifted off a few minutes after cuddling up in her Tara Blankie. Tilly, on the other hand, insisted on reading about 30 books before she finally succumbed to sleep. I was impressed with their nighttime routine though. It involves putting Tilly in her crib with books, and letting her read until she falls asleep. There is minimal rocking or cuddling, more independence. Someday we'll get to that.

The next morning we had the best cinnamon rolls ever (!!!) and went on a walk to check out our pools.

Earlier in the week we had gone over to Jessica and Tilly's house for a bbq. They have a house nearly the same style as ours but a huge backyard. And it was the least stressful dinner ever! Having the girls play together as we ate and drank (and drank) made dinner and life so easy. The funniest part of the evening was the baby carriage. Louisa found this wooden stroller for Tilly's dolls but decided the best use of the stroller would be to hold her. So she snuggled into the tiny stroller and Tilly pushed her around the yard. But somehow they had communicated to each other that they should collect all toys they encountered and place them in the stroller. So Tilly would push Louisa a couple inches, stop, grab a random toy, hand it to Louisa who would stuff it under her feet, then continue pushing. By the end of the game there were probably 20 toys in the stroller.

Also, Louisa found some bunny ears she had to wear for the night.

This past Sunday, after Tilly and Jessica left, we attended the final round of auditions for the Washington Football Team's cheerleaders. Crysten, who is essentially my little sister, was an ambassador for the cheerleaders last year and has worked her bum off for these auditions. Dance class from 6-11:30 every night. Punishing workouts. Awkward schmoozing. The auditions were very fun although, admittedly, the lack of clothing did make me slightly uncomfortable. But I take issue with people who think that, because of the way they dance or what they wear, supporting this team is somehow a strike against feminism. They are athletes, they like to dance, they want to be challenged in their talent and be a part of a team. Frankly, men are responsible for being pervy and gross, and these women aren't responsible for how men respond to them. I've really tired of women and men holding women responsible for men's poor behavior, claiming they are tempting, teasing, enticing men who just can't help but drool or ogle.

Anyway, Crysten made the team! We are so proud of her! And this means I'll actually have to start attending football games.
